Grand Inauguration of Breastfeeding Room and Nutrition Rehabilitation Center at PGIMS Rohtak Pediatrics OPD

 Indiknow, Rohtak : Dr. H.K. Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor of Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, today formally inaugurated the newly constructed Breastfeeding Room and Nutrition Rehabilitation Center (NRC) in the Department of Pediatrics (Pediatrics OPD) at PGIMS. The inauguration took place in the presence of Director Dr. S.K. Singhal, Medical Superintendent and Head of the Pediatrics Department Dr. Kundan Mittal, Dr. Alok Khanna, as well as junior and senior residents of the department.

Dr. Kundan Mittal has consistently demonstrated that he is not just an administrator, but a forward-thinking advocate for child welfare. His role in establishing the Breastfeeding Room and the Nutrition Rehabilitation Center (NRC) highlights two key pillars of his visionary leadership:

Dignity and Advocacy for Mothers

By spearheading the creation of a dedicated breastfeeding room, Dr. Mittal has addressed a long-standing barrier for mothers in busy hospital environments by normalizing breastfeeding by providing a private, hygienic, and comfortable space.

Strategic Combat Against Malnutrition

The inauguration of the Nutrition Rehabilitation Center (NRC) is a testament to Dr. Mittal’s commitment to tackling the root causes of childhood mortality by Moving from "treating symptoms" to "rehabilitating the child." Under his supervision, the NRC provides more than just medicine; it offers specialized dietetics and expert monitoring for children with severe acute malnutrition (SAM). This saves lives that might otherwise be lost to the cycle of poverty and poor nutrition.

During the inauguration, Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.K. Aggarwal emphasized that breastfeeding is vital for the optimal health of newborns. The breastfeeding room has been established to provide a safe, private, and comfortable space for mothers visiting the OPD.

Director Dr. S.K. Singhal reaffirmed the institute’s commitment, stating that PGIMS is continuously working to improve facilities for patients and their attendants.
