Many of these manuscripts are at risk of deterioration, making their preservation crucial.
He added that the survey will be conducted with the support of private collectors, libraries, temples, monasteries and educational institutions, and the collected data will be used to create a comprehensive national database. The Deputy Commissioner appealed to citizens, institutions and collectors to share information about manuscripts in their possession, so that this invaluable heritage can be documented and preserved. He further stated that the initiative will be implemented in phases, including identification, condition assessment, metadata creation, high-quality digitization, verification and archival storage, ensuring systematic conservation of manuscripts. He emphasized that this effort will not only preserve India’s ancient knowledge systems but also make them accessible for research and learning in the future.
