Indiknow, Rohtak. The fifth day of the art exhibition 'Abhivyanjana' held at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLCSUPVA) on Thursday was very special. Union Minister of Energy, Housing, and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, visited the university campus and viewed the exhibition. He was accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Bhatia and former minister Manish Grover as distinguished guests. During this time, Chief Guest Manohar Lal honoured the talented students of the Faculty of Visual Arts at the award distribution ceremony and also released the university's coffee table book. Upon arrival at the university, Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya and Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha warmly welcomed the Union Minister. State Information Commissioner Amarjeet Singh also attended the ceremony.
First of all, the central minister was welcomed at the university guest house with a traditional tilak. After that, he proceeded to the Faculty of Design to view the art exhibition 'Abhivyanjana'. The event formally began with a lamp lighting ceremony, after which the students of the Faculty of Visual Arts presented their own artwork to welcome him. Manohar Lal observed the various artworks displayed in the exhibition and gathered detailed information from the students about their work. He also participated creatively by painting on a canvas himself and appreciated the students' talent. Photos were also taken at the selfie point created by the students riding a 'SUPVA'. Along with this, he signed the visitor book while writing a message for the SUPVA family. After viewing the exhibition, the central minister attended the student honour ceremony held in the mini auditorium of the FTV department. The program began with the national song 'Vande Mataram' and the university anthem. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya presented a memento and an attractive portrait made by the students to the chief guest.
On this occasion, the students of the FTV department gave a captivating performance of 'Raas Rang,' which included songs used in the theatrical genre. During the ceremony, 19 students of the Faculty of Visual Arts were honoured with the 'Best Artwork Award,' and 30 students were awarded appreciation medals and certificates. The department also honoured all its staff members by giving them certificates. On the occasion, the Union Minister formally released the university's coffee table book. The coffee table book preserves the major events organized during the current session and the university's participation, including significant events like the Delhi Shabdotsav, Sang Samagam, Bharangam, Sarang, and Aksharam.
During this, DC Sachin Gupta, SP Gaurav Rajpurohit, ADC Narendra Kumar, OSD of the Special Publicity Cell of the Information and Public Relations and Language Department and singer Gajendra Faugat, University Academic Dean Dr. Ajay Kaushik, Coordinator of the Faculty of Visual Arts Vinay Kumar, along with other staff members, were present.
Work on the theme 'One District One Art': Manohar Lal
Union Minister Manohar Lal said in his address that he had long desired to come to this university, but coming here for the first time gave him immense happiness. He said that the Vice-Chancellor is an old companion of his, and he has observed his work for a long time, but coming here, he got to see a different and hidden talented side of him. One can see in this exhibition to what extent an artist can present their emotions and artistic thinking. He had heard that young people are not connecting with their traditional art, but coming here has relieved his concern. The exhibition has been named 'Abhivyanjana', which says everything in itself. In the exhibition, the voice against social evils, glimpses of folk traditions, heritage, and culture were clearly visible. Art and culture are the most effective medium to connect people. Referring to the Prime Minister's One India - Best India campaign, he said that it is extremely important to bring the cultures of different states to each other. Haryana was connected with Telangana, giving people the opportunity to understand each other's language, culture, and traditions. He said that learning another language is also an art, and it strengthens cultural understanding. The Union Minister said that art is not just a means of entertainment, but also a medium for building society and the nation. Through films, plays, and other artistic performances, one can work to eliminate the evils in society and guide the new generation in the right direction. He suggested that work should be done under the theme of 'One District-One Art,' so that the traditional and folk-art forms of every district can be recognized. He emphasized the preservation and development of folk arts such as Dhamal, Song, Jangam Party, Nagada Party, Gatka, and Bhangra. Manohar Lal said that this exhibition of SUPVA should not remain limited to the university campus, but should also be taken to other places to gain recognition across the country. Alumni of the university should also be invited to the campus and dialogue sessions with new students should be organized so that they can share their experiences with the students. He appreciated Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya, the university staff members, employees, and students for organizing the event, saying that such efforts will take the art and culture of Haryana to new heights.
Art helps in stress management: Sanjay Bhatia
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Bhatia said that providing students with such a positive and creative environment is truly a wonderful work. For this, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Amit Arya, deserves congratulations, and along with him, those who selected Dr. Amit Arya for this position also deserve congratulations. He said that coming here reminded him of his old days. He himself has been associated with art and stage and has played roles like Ram, Laxman, and Sita in Ramlila. He stated that music and art connect a person to the Divine. Art works in stress management in life. He called upon the students and attendees that no matter in which field they are working, they should never let their art and talent end. Art strengthens a person’s personality and gives society a positive direction. Appreciating the event, he also announced giving 11 lakh rupees from the MP fund to the University for art equipment.
