UHSR Rohtak Professor Receives Prestigious International Fellowship and Visiting Professorship in the United Kingdom
Indiknow, Rohtak : Prof. (Dr.) Amrish Bhagol, Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR), Rohtak, has achieved international recognition after successfully completing the prestigious International Travel Fellowship jointly offered by the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI) and the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS).
The fellowship is one of the most competitive academic opportunities available to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in India. This year, 62 surgeons from across the country applied for the fellowship, and Dr. Bhagol was selected through a rigorous two-stage national selection process.
As part of the fellowship, he was assigned to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, United Kingdom, one of the largest and most advanced National Health Service (NHS) hospitals in the UK. During his training, he gained exposure to cutting-edge surgical techniques and multidisciplinary management of complex cases involving maxillofacial trauma, head and neck cancer, cleft and craniofacial deformities, and reconstructive surgery.
In recognition of his academic achievements, research contributions, and international collaborations, Dr. Bhagol has also been recognized as a Visiting Professor at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.
Dr. Bhagol has an impressive academic profile with more than 100 publications in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals, authorship of chapters in several national and international textbooks, and three registered patents. His research on mandibular condylar fractures has been recognized among the most cited publications in the field internationally. He has also developed an internationally recognized classification system for mandibular fractures.
Over the years, he has received several prestigious honors, including the Dr. S.S. Sidhu Award, the University Young Researcher Award, international scholarships, advanced implantology training from the United Kingdom and the United States, and multiple national and international fellowships.
Originally hailing from Narnaul in Haryana, Dr. Bhagol's journey from a small-town background to international academic recognition serves as an inspiration for aspiring healthcare professionals and researchers. His achievement has brought distinction not only to UHSR Rohtak but also to the state of Haryana and the Indian Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery fraternity.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bhagol expressed gratitude to his mentors, colleagues, and the University administration for their continuous support and stated that the knowledge and experience gained during the fellowship would be shared with students and residents to further strengthen academic and clinical excellence at UHSR Rohtak.
